Your Meta account information isn’t public. You can manage how you appear in VR with your Meta Horizon profile.
After setting up your Meta account, you can add or remove this account from the Accounts Center.
For existing Facebook users
If you currently use a Facebook account to access your VR device, you will need to set up a Meta account to continue using your device. Before starting the setup process, make sure that your headset is updated and that you’re signed in with your existing Facebook account. This ensures information like your previously purchased apps and existing data will automatically be associated with your new Meta account. Do not select “Set up account with email,” because doing so will create a Meta account that doesn’t have your existing apps and data. If this happens, you will need to delete your Meta account and set up a new Meta account using your existing Facebook account.
Once you’re signed into your existing Facebook account, you will have a choice to “Set up with Facebook” or “Continue without Facebook.” If you want access to connected experiences like finding Facebook friends or using Facebook features like Messenger in VR, you can choose “Set up with Facebook.” If you no longer want to use your Facebook account in VR, you can set up a Meta account with your email by selecting “Continue without Facebook.”
To set up a Meta account if you currently use a Facebook account to access your VR device:
- Open the Meta Horizon mobile app on your phone or put on your headset and follow the on-screen instructions.
- You can also visit meta.com/setup to get started.
FAQ
💡 Do you have multiple profiles/meta accounts on your VR headset?
We advise that you have one meta account on your headset to avoid having to switch between profiles upon every use. To remove this additional profile you can perform a factory reset which will remove all data and account information and setting the device with the single profile, or you can remove the additional profile via the headset's settings.
💡Do you have a large number of VR Devices?
*If you are a large organization looking to purchase and setup a large fleet of MetaQuest VR devices and are concerned about the manual effort with the VR setup and management, there are Mobile Data Management (MDM) solutions to help streamline this process.
